Four Reasons to Visit the Brazilian Amazon Jungle Between September and February

SAO PAULO, BRAZIL--(Marketwired - Sep 1, 2016) - Between September 2016 and February 2017, the water level of the rivers in the Amazon forest drops considerably due to the sunny weather and little rainfall. This is called the dry season, and it offers visitors new landscapes and unique experiences, all of which Juma Amazon Lodge, in the heart of the jungle, takes its guests to see and enjoy.

Small fluvial beaches form on the banks of the river that surrounds the hotel, where guests are taken by boat -- and where they can also watch the region's clear, starry sky. In the river, at night, guests can see caymans, which can be more easily spotted during this time of the year.

With more dry land spots on the river banks, sport fishing is another great option. Even with little sport fishing experience, guests get to catch several types of typical Amazonian fish, such as the pirarucu (arapaima), tucunaré (peacock bass), pirapitinga and aruanãs.

The dry season is also perfect for seeing the blooming of trees such as munguba, angelim and sumaúma, a gigantic local flora that can reach up to 131 feet (40 meters) high, to which Juma's guides take guests during tours in the forest.

Booking.com - Recently, Booking.com has elected Juma Amazon Lodge as one of the best places to disconnect from the world and restore one's energies. Surrounded by the jungle, it's located within a preserved area of 7,000 hectares (around 17,300 acres), 3 hours away from Manaus by boat and car. Its bungalows (some facing the jungle and some facing the Juma River) have showers with water heated by solar energy and porches with hammocks. There are no television sets or wi-fi, so as to make the experience as profound and genuine as possible. The lodge unveiled, this year, a brand new and even more comfortable bungalow, with an area of 344 square feet (32 m²), a king size bed, indigenous artworks and a pleasant porch around it, with rustic chairs and hammocks for the guest to enjoy the sights and sounds of the jungle.
