What: Our nation's social insurance programs provide fundamental economic security to millions of working Americans and their families. Yet, the 2016 elections have spent surprisingly little time discussing the importance of Social Security, Medicare, Unemployment Insurance, Workers' Compensation, and other social insurance and related programs.

National Academy of Social Insurance thought leaders are available to comment on the implications of the candidates' remarks (or lack thereof) before, during, and after Monday night's debate. The Academy is a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization made up of the nation's leading experts on social insurance.The Academy does not lobby or take positions on policy issues.
