SAN FRANCISCO, CA and LONDON, ENGLAND--(Marketwired - October 25, 2016) - RocketSpace, the tech campus that has accelerated the growth of 17 tech startups valued at $1B or more, is announcing the appointment of international diplomat Priya Guha to Ecosystem General Manager for the new, soon-to-open RocketSpace tech campus in London. The campus for high-growth startups will open in Spring 2017, steps from Angel tube station.
In her new role, Guha will support UK startups by bringing them into the RocketSpace ecosystem and bridge the gap between the UK and Silicon Valley to assist members' international growth. This will include access to services and partners essential to tech startups' development, as well as RocketSpace's roster of Fortune 1000 corporate clients. She will also work with leaders from the public and private sectors, as well as international entrepreneurial organizations to provide support and opportunities for RocketSpace members.
"Having seen first hand RocketSpace's integral contribution to the Silicon Valley tech ecosystem, I am delighted to lead its UK campus," said Guha. "Global tech players with European roots, such as Blippar, Spotify and Supercell, scaled their businesses at RocketSpace in San Francisco. The new UK tech campus will be a place for the best of British tech startups to accelerate their growth and for innovation to thrive."
Duncan Logan, founder and CEO of RocketSpace, said Guha is uniquely qualified to lead the company into the European market, with an extensive background in international business-development with British companies expanding in the U.S., as well as American companies doing business in the UK.
"Priya has a tremendous track record working with technology companies on both sides of the Atlantic," Logan said. "Her cross-border experience and deep relationships make Priya a valuable leader and advocate for our members as we join one of the world's leading tech ecosystems."
Guha served as a British diplomat for 20 years across India, Spain and the U.S. She became Britain's first female Consul General to San Francisco when she was appointed in 2011. During her five-year tenure in Silicon Valley, Guha worked closely with technology companies, and was also an active supporter of women in business, using her platform to drive key initiatives to promote UK female tech founders.
"In her diplomatic career, Priya was a champion for Britain, for British business, for technology, and for entrepreneurs. This is a brilliant appointment by RocketSpace, and I've no doubt that Priya will be a great advocate for the organisation and its members," added Eileen Burbidge, Partner at Passion Capital and Chair TechCity UK.
This appointment is the latest development in RocketSpace's global expansion across Europe and Asia. RocketSpace was founded in San Francisco by British native Duncan Logan in 2011. Subsequently, more than 1,000 tech companies including 17 unicorns have been nurtured by the company.
