SFO Taps Flight Attendants from 20 U.S. and International Airlines for Video on San Francisco Must-Sees

Lieutenant Governor Newsom, Mayor Lee and Entertainment Legend Tony Bennett Headline SFO Campaign

SAN FRANCISCO, Oct. 26, 2016 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Flight attendants know how to travel. They visit routinely the cities we long to see, and they know their way around the world’s best airports.  A new video by San Francisco International Airport (SFO) reveals what flight attendants love most about SFO and the City by the Bay, part of a global campaign, “#MySFO,” on the Airport’s Facebook page.

“Every traveler has a story to tell,” said Kandace Bender, Marketing and Communications Chief. “The world’s flight attendants have begun the conversation, and now we’d like travelers to share their stories, whether they are planning their first trip or have visited San Francisco many times."

Participating flight attendants – joined by legendary entertainer Tony Bennett, California Lieutenant Governor Gavin Newsom, San Francisco Mayor Edwin M. Lee, the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence, Beach Blanket Babylon’s Skyline Hat Lady and Gi-ant’s mascot, Lou Seal – share their favorite stories and some light-hearted moments about the quirks that make San Francisco so special and adored.

“Watch this, and you’ll leave your heart here, too,” says Mr. Bennett, whose cameo in the campaign pays homage to, “I Left My Heart in San Francisco,” his signature ballad and the city’s unofficial anthem for more than 50 years.

For a KLM flight attendant, San Francisco is ‘like being at home.’ ‘Explore the neighborhoods,’ says one crew member. ‘Go to Ashbury Heights,’ another recommends and ‘Lombard Street.’ At the Airport, a Copa Airlines crew member cites Napa Farms because, ‘There’s always fresh food.’ Delta flight attendants visit the aviation museum and peruse exhibits located through the terminals, while Virgin Atlantic staff tout SFO’s yoga room and ‘resident yoga doga.’

When served the ubiquitous airline lounge bar snack, Lieutenant Governor Newsom gives a wink to local foodie culture when he asks, “Are these organic and locally-sustained nuts?”

Fiji Airways’ flight attendants demonstrate the ease of taking BART from the Airport’s International Terminal to downtown San Francisco. Aer Lingus and United Airlines’ staff ride the cable cars and a Qantas Airways crew member touts the benefits of the historic street cars to navigate San Francisco’s iconic terrain. “Just walk up a hill and it’s considered hiking,” says a United flight attendant.

Flight crews recommend must-visits in the Airport such as the SF MOMA store, the popular yoga room and little-known secret oases at SFO.
