MEMPHIS, TN--(Marketwired - October 28, 2016) - The Memphis Grizzlies and ServiceMaster today announced a new multi-year partnership, cementing ServiceMaster as a signature partner of the Grizzlies and FedExForum. The deal represents an expanded relationship with the team and comes in the months following ServiceMaster announcing its 2018 headquarters relocation to downtown Memphis. Per policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.
"We are proud of our long-time affiliation with ServiceMaster, and excited to help welcome them as new neighbors in downtown through the announcement of this renewed partnership," said Jason Wexler, Grizzlies president of business operations. "Their commitment to Memphis, to the Grizzlies, and to our fans has always been impressive, and we look forward to the future."
ServiceMaster will focus its efforts toward 'owning' the Grizzlies defense in order to 'protect and maintain' the home court, similar to the commitment to 'protect and maintain' customers' homes and businesses through its extensive network of more than 8,000 company-owned locations and franchise and license agreements. The relationship will engage Grizzlies fans through multiple channels, including a redesigned activation area in the east end of the main concourse, which will display multiple ways ServiceMaster can protect your home or business.
"Just as it's important for the Grizzlies to defend their home court, ServiceMaster has more than 85 years of experience protecting and maintaining homes and business," said Peter Tosches, ServiceMaster's senior vice president of corporate communications. "Our trusted experts make more than 75,000 visits into homes and businesses every day, so it makes sense to recognize the importance of the player who protects the Grizzlies' home court every game. We're thrilled to be part of the Grizzlies home team."
ServiceMaster, a leading provider of essential residential and commercial services, announced in June 2016 plans to relocate its headquarters to Downtown Memphis in the former 328,000-square-foot Peabody Place, now known as One ServiceMaster Center. The decision to move downtown was hailed by Memphis Mayor Jim Strickland as, "…the most significant headquarters announcement downtown in a generation."
The ServiceMaster partnership includes significant presence on the Grizzlies' digital and social channels, including presentation of key defensive moments each game and a new "post-game cleanup" feature that will provide fans with all relevant game recap information in one place. Additionally, ServiceMaster will now present sideline reports on the regional Grizzlies television broadcast, giving fans a bit more detail behind the scenes.
"Our ability to deliver deeply relevant Grizzlies content to our fans through both digital and traditional channels has grown significantly, and ServiceMaster is taking advantage of that," explained Wexler. "When we create a truly authentic alignment between that content and their brand, as we've been able to do with the 'protect and maintain' theme, it is a big win for ServiceMaster, for us, and for our fans."
