CULVER CITY, CA--(Marketwired - November 08, 2016) - SCALABLE Network Technologies, Inc. (SCALABLE), a leader in wireless network design and optimization tools, announced today that the company has received a five year, $13.1 million SBIR Phase III Basic Indefinite Delivery Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) Contract from United States Navy. The contract will allow SCALABLE to develop significant enhancements and updates to Joint Network Emulator (JNE) including supporting the maintenance of JNE software and associated capabilities for use by the U.S. Navy Network Analysis Branch to SPAWAR Systems Center Pacific and the other agencies.
JNE, a GOTS library of military waveform models and interfaces, runs on EXata, SCALABLE's COTS modeling and simulation application. It provides military personnel and defense contractors with a high-fidelity live-virtual-constructive (LVC) modeling and simulation environment to quickly and cost effectively plan battlefield network architectures and mission scenarios, test new radios and emerging network components in operationally accurate contexts and at scale deployments and train warfighters on operational behavior. JNE supports the real-time emulation of large communication networks that comprise current and future force communication devices, including, but not limited to: the Wideband Network Waveform (WNW), the Soldier Radio Waveform (SRW), the Warfighter Information Network-Tactical (WIN-T), Link-16, the Single Channel Ground and Airborne Radio System (SINCGARS), Enhanced Position Location and Reporting System (EPLRS), Internet Controller (INC), Multi-User Objective System (MUOS), Tactical Targeting Network Technology (TTNT), Multifunctional Information Distribution System (MIDS) and related systems. In addition, JNE provides a comprehensive set of cyber attack and network defense models at various layers of the protocol stack, as well as the ability to simulate an LVC network under attack and to operate with live systems in the loop.
The Network Analysis Branch to SPAWAR Systems Center Pacific is responsible for the design and development of simulation environments that accurately represent tactical data links, communications, networks and cyber effects for large heterogeneous networks. For this purpose, the Network Analysis Branch intends to use and expand the interfaces and model libraries available in the Joint Network Emulator (JNE).
According to Rajive Bagrodia, CEO of SCALABLE, "Leveraging SBIR funded research and development, JNE provides the ability to create at scale, lab-based replicas of heterogeneous battlefield communication networks under realistic operating conditions. The technology has resulted in dramatic cost savings for analysis, test, and deployment while recent advances in Live, Virtual, and Constructive (LVC) network models have facilitated the large scale testing of emerging tactical communication systems."
