OAKS, Pa., Nov. 21, 2016 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Earlier this month, the SEI (NASDAQ:SEIC) Women’s Network hosted Girls with Goals, an initiative to help young girls learn essential life and leadership skills, as well as conflict resolution. Occurring twice each year, the half-day event provides small-group instruction to and activities for a group of 25 girls from Upper Merion Area Middle School.
Girls with Goals members participated in several tasks, including a marshmallow-building challenge and video editing in SEI’s media studio. Currently in its fourth year, Girls with Goals was founded through a partnership with the Upper Merion Police Department and the middle school to help seventh and eighth grade girls make positive choices and empower them as young ladies. The organization utilizes the “Owning Up” curriculum, which emphasizes positivity and leadership qualities. Counselors at the middle school work to identify candidates for the group.
“The SEI Women’s Network is thrilled to partner with Girls with Goals,” said Vivian Estadt, President of the SEI Women’s Network. “These girls are in their formative years, and we’re honored to provide guidance and advice, encouraging their growth into strong, leading women of the future.”
“Working with SEI’s Women’s Network has greatly benefitted Girls with Goals,” said Patricia Berger, Social Worker at Upper Merion Area Middle School. “These women demonstrate a tremendous amount of pride in helping to teach our members vital leadership skills, respect, and self-love.”
