Electronic Assembly Technology Improves Food Processing

CARLSBAD, Calif., March 14, 2017 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- On April 5, 2017, at 4pm CST, SMAC Moving Coil Actuators President, Edward Neff, will return to Automate (collocated with Pro Food Tech) to speak at the session, Overcoming Food Processing and Packaging Challenges. During this session, Mr. Neff will explain how mechatronic advancements in Electronic Assembly can be applied to Food Processing to maximize quality, uptime, and profits.

Attendees will learn about a great technological leap in important processing applications - like Capping, Filling and Eject/Divert.

In Capping, mechatronic actuators prevent cross threading while verifying cap height and torque with 100% feedback on quality. For Food Processors, this means faster and more efficient QA on all products requiring a cap, even child proof lids.

In Filling and Dispensing, actuators cycle 2 X faster than pneumatics with response time variation reduced by over 95%. For Food Processors, these means never over-filling or under-filling a container.

In Ejection, Diversion, Sorting and Laning, moving coil actuators provide much higher speeds, much lower time variation, and the ability to perform a patented Soft-Land routine and push objects with programmable force. This can even be used on containers with greatly differing volumes. Both large and small containers will not tip over because of force and velocity control.

At Automate, the actuator and robotics manufacturer will be showing live demonstrations of advance robotic technology at Booth #N1659. SMAC’s built in sensor feedback system gives SMAC’s Moving Coil Actuators the unique mechatronic ability to “do work and verify its success at the same time.” This would allow the actuators to quality check key processes 100% in real time and feedback the results.

SMAC Moving Coil Actuators claim to be true “mechatronic solutions.” By that they mean their  actuators have unique capabilities such as programmable and controllable position, velocity, and force, high accelerations, cycle life well over 100M, and a patent-pending “Soft-Land” capability. The Soft-Land capability is very useful when performing fragile part assembly, measurement, moving objects, etc.
