"I'm so proud of our partnership with the NCAA to build our Dream Courts™ in Final Four cities,” said Nancy Lieberman, a member of the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame who made history in 2015 when she was hired by the Sacramento Kings, becoming the second female assistant coach in NBA history. “It just shows how community and sports can be a factor in bringing people together for health and fitness.”
Anucha Browne, NCAA vice president for women’s basketball championships, expressed her organization’s commitment to leaving a lasting impact in cities that host the Women’s Final Four. “The NCAA’s partnership with WorldVentures and Nancy Lieberman has enabled us to provide opportunities for Dallas youth to have a safe space to play,” she said. “I hope this court inspires them and paves a potential pathway to an opportunity as an NCAA student athlete.”
Monica Paul, executive director of the Dallas Sports Commission, echoed Browne’s sentiment: “Our hope is that this Dream Court helps foster a love of basketball for the youth of Dallas while leaving a continuing memory of the 2017 Women’s Final Four.”
The Women’s Final Four Dream Court is 68-by-118 feet with eight basketball goals, and features Sport Court’s high-performance safety surface in signature blue and orange. Its centerpiece is the Dream Courts logo, flanked by the brands of all four supporting organizations.
“In our third year of collaboration, this Dream Court is a testament to the power of teamwork and our collective commitment to serving local youth,” said Gwyneth Lloyd, executive director, WorldVentures Foundation.
A dedication ceremony was held on Wednesday, March 29 at Arcadia Park, located at 5516 Arcadia Drive in Dallas. Following the ribbon cutting, children participated in an open-court “shootaround” with Lieberman and players from the Dallas Wings. Participants also took part in Volunteer Day activities with WorldVentures Foundation.
