SAN DIEGO, April 20, 2017 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Neology, a subsidiary of RFID industry pacesetter SMARTRAC, announced today that it has received Certification for its innovative E-Plate from OmniAir Certification Services (OCS). The OCS Certification validates that Neology products comply with baseline interoperability and applied interoperability across equipment vendors and facilities and withstand conditions of the toll environment.
Neology's E-Plate provides a solution to the long desired ability to automate license plate number recognition, with the benefit of high accuracy rates and integration into a wide array of applications. Incorporating passive RFID into the plate design allows the license plate to communicate wirelessly, eliminating the "line of sight" requirement for identification. The result is a technology advancement that enables transmitting the license plate identification at much greater read distances and with a higher degree of performance and reliability.
By linking the license plate to the vehicle electronically, functions such as immediate theft notification are available, as well as immobilizing the vehicle should a fraudulent plate be attached. Further, functions such as tolling, parking, and access control are seamlessly enabled with wireless transmittal of vehicle data, eliminating the need for separate hardware or software.
"The certification of our innovative E-Plate product solution follows several successful toll agency pilots and we look forward to commercialization later this year," said Francisco Martinez, CEO, Neology.

About OCS:
OmniAir Certification Services, Inc. is an independent non-profit organization chartered to develop certification programs for the transportation industry for technologies in use in the Connected Vehicle community, including operators of tolled facilities. The first OCS test program developed was created at the request of the 6C Toll Operators Committee (6C TOC). OCS is open to developing certification programs for other user groups and other tolling technologies requested by the tolling community, including the potential for multi-protocol testing programs. The goal of the certification program is to ensure that OCS-certified devices are interoperable and perform according to requirements established by user groups. Devices must pass a series of rigorous tests in order to obtain certification. Most tests are protocol-independent.
