Alectra raises more than $126,000 for cancer research

MISSISSAUGA, ON--(Marketwired - June 14, 2017) - A team of 41 Alectra employees cycled for two days in the annual Enbridge^® Ride to Conquer Cancer^® on June 10 and 11, travelling more than 200 kilometres between Toronto and Niagara Falls. Together, the Alectra team contributed over $126,000 to the $20.5 million total that 5,000 riders raised in support of Princess Margaret Cancer Centre.

This past weekend marked the first year the team rode under the new company name, Alectra. In 2016, prior to forming the new company and under the team name Power4, employees of Enersource, Horizon Utilities, Hydro One Brampton and PowerStream came together for the ride in support of cancer research.

Funds raised through the Ride support Personalized Cancer Medicine research, treatment advances, education and new standards of care at Princess Margaret. Donations are allocated into four main areas: detect, diagnose, target and support. Personalized Cancer Medicine is a multi-faceted, integrated approach to cancer care that focuses on the unique nature of each patient.
