State of Michigan to Fully Integrate Michigan Automated Prescription System (MAPS) Into Hospitals, Physician Groups and Pharmacies Across the State with Appriss Health’s PMP Gateway Solution

State of Michigan to also Deploy Appriss Health’s NarxCare Solution In Clinical Workflow to Help Identify, Prevent and Manage Substance Use Disorder

Louisville, KY, June 19, 2017 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Appriss Health, provider of the most comprehensive platform for substance use disorder in the U.S., today announced that the State of Michigan is directly adding the Michgan Automated Prescription System (MAPS) into the electronic health records (EHRs) and pharmacy management systems of hospitals, physician groups and pharmacies across the state via Appriss Health’s PMP Gateway solution. Additionally, The State of Michigan will deploy Appriss Health’s NarxCare solution in workflow to help identify, prevent and manage substance use disorder (SUD) by empowering prescribers, dispensers and care teams with the advanced analytics, tools and technology they need to help patients that may be at risk for prescription drug addiction, overdose and death.

Today, Lieutenant Governor Brian Calley was joined by leaders from Michigan’s health community and Appriss Health at Henry Ford Health System in Detroit to announce that the state, as a result of efficiencies in the implementation of the new MAPS system and additional federal grants, will be funding the full integration of MAPS into clinical workflow.

“Integrating MAPS into the regular operations of prescribers and dispensers makes the system even easier to use and enhances patient protections,” said Lieutenant Governor Brian Calley. “This resource will help practitioners make better decisions on prescribing to prevent opioid abuse and save the lives of Michiganders.”

In April 2017, the Dept. of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs (LARA) launched the new MAPS that utilizes Appriss Health’s PMP AWARxE solution.

Full clinical workflow integration at the point-of-care, in real-time with MAPS via Appriss Health’s PMP Gateway solution helps prescribers and dispensers protect patients from prescription drug abuse by providing:

  • A seamless, single-click connection from EHRs and pharmacy dispensation systems into the platform where users access one system and avoid multiple logins which is a more efficient process that saves users valuable time and resources.
  • Appriss Health’s NarxCare solution, an in-workflow, prescription drug monitoring program (PDMP)  information, advanced analytics, tools and technology solution that aids clinical decision-making and increases access to treatment, improves patient engagement, and enables care coordination.
  • Full financial support of the integration of MAPS into Michigan health systems, physician groups and pharmacies that apply.

“We look forward to continuing to collaborate with the state and the Michigan medical community to help healthcare providers make better informed decisions for early intervention and improved outcomes,” said Appriss Health President Rob Cohen. “Wide adoption of prescription drug monitoring information, analytics and patient resources into clinical workflow can effectively identify, prevent and manage potential problems with prescription drug addiction.”
