VANCOUVER, British Columbia, Aug. 16, 2017 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The Asia Pacific Foundation of Canada (APF Canada) and The Cansbridge Fellowship (Cansbridge) are pleased to announce that they have entered into a strategic partnership to deliver scholarships to entrepreneurial Canadian university students seeking work experience in dynamic Asia.
APF Canada will partner with Cansbridge over the next two years to support and expand its Asia internship program, which currently awards 15 fellowships each year to Canadian undergraduate students selected by previous Cansbridge fellows for their entrepreneurial and leadership qualities. The Fellowships include a 10-week (minimum) internship in Asia and participation in the annual Cansbridge Fellowship Conference in San Francisco. The funding provided by APF Canada will allow Cansbridge to expand the number of fellowships to 20 per year in 2018 and 2019, and support the hosting of the inaugural Cansbridge Fellowship Conference in Vancouver in the fall of 2018.
“This new partnership aligns directly with our mission of expanding the number of Canadian post-secondary students receiving high-quality and valuable work experience in the Asia Pacific,” said APF Canada President and CEO, Stewart Beck. “As the world pivots to Asia, it is essential that Canadians, particularly young Canadians, gain the Asia-related knowledge and skills they need to thrive in the new global economy.”
“The Cansbridge Fellowship is very excited to form this strategic partnership with the Asia Pacific Foundation of Canada,” said Chris Labelle, Director and Fellow. “With our reach on university campuses and APF Canada’s ability to catalyze connections in the Asia Pacific, we have greatly increased the potential for Canadian students to create relationships and gain concrete knowledge of how to work and thrive across the Pacific. We strongly believe that this new partnership will enable The Cansbridge Fellowship to create more opportunities for Canada’s top young talent.”
