On Thursday, August 24, 2017, OnTrac employees were joined by customers, the Greater Vancouver Chamber of Commerce, business partners and the Vancouver community for a celebration lunch, a ribbon cutting ceremony and facility tours. The new facility is located at 3665 NW 32nd Ave., Vancouver, Washington 98660 and services the southwest Washington and Portland, Oregon area. The Vancouver facility is the second facility located in the state of Washington and is one of about 30 facilities throughout the OnTrac service region.
OnTrac Vancouver General Manager Tony Franz says, “Vancouver is designed to be an expandable system in terms of material handling. With this facility, we’re injecting packages into four satellite facilities in Oregon and we've built for the future. We can sort the packages we have today, but have plenty of room to handle additional packages.”
At the company’s newest facility, there are 35 dock doors compared to the 13 dock doors in the previous facility. In addition, 4,000 packages an hour travel through this facility and OnTrac has the potential to process 7,000 per hour once there is the need to expand. OnTrac has invested multi-million dollars since 2015 on material handling systems and engineering in order to process packages faster and minimize the time in the facility for their customers.
Facility expansion yields employee growth. With this new facility, OnTrac has grown to almost 60 employees and is still hiring today. OnTrac has over 2,700 employees company-wide working in operations and administrative positions, and a delivery network comprised of over 4,000 owner operators. As peak season approaches, OnTrac will be hiring additional sorters to manage the influx of holiday shipping. Currently at the Vancouver facility, OnTrac is hiring a total of nine part-time AM Package Handlers, a Corporate Account Manager and a full-time Hostler.
