Adventist Health System to Host 2017 National Council of Presidents Conference

The conference will feature the third annual InnovationX competition.

ALTAMONTE SPRINGS, Fla., Aug. 29, 2017 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Adventist Health System (AHS), one of the largest faith-based health systems in the U.S., is hosting the 2017 National Council of Presidents conference Sept. 5-6 in Tampa, Florida. The two-day, invitation-only event will bring together health care and business leaders from across the country to discuss current and future strategic plans and challenges, while exploring opportunities to advance health care together, creating consumer value and partnering to strengthen the consumer experience.

The conference will also feature InnovationX, the health care industry’s premier innovation competition. InnovationX is a “Shark Tank” style competition that will give approximately 20 start-ups and mid-stage companies the opportunity to pitch their ideas and solutions to some of the top challenges in health care before a judging panel made up of executive health care leaders. This year’s winner will have the chance to collaborate with AHS leaders to further develop their product and design a pilot with AHS.

“We are excited about the opportunity to host an event that will provide a solutions-focused platform, bringing together thought leaders and innovators,” said Terry Shaw, president/CEO for Adventist Health System. “As health care continues to evolve, our commitment to inspiring and supporting innovation grows stronger, and we look to cultivate and implement creative solutions that enhance care and service for patients and consumers.”

Past InnovationX winners include Babyscripts in 2015 and Twistle in 2016. Babyscripts presented a platform that remotely monitors pregnancies, and Twistle delivered a process and quality-improvement platform that engages patients with provider treatment plans to improve patient outcomes and consumer satisfaction. After winning the competition in 2015, Babyscripts spent time at one of AHS’s innovation and design facilities, the Florida Hospital Innovation Lab, located at the organization’s largest hospital, Florida Hospital Orlando.

As providers work to engage consumers like never before while focusing on opportunities to lower cost, enhance accessibility and develop new solutions, several panel discussions featuring design experts and industry leaders in innovation, health care and technology will highlight opportunities to advance the industry. Conference participants will also have the chance to take part in working sessions and gather valuable insights from various thought leaders and discuss how innovative and collaborative solutions can help facilitate transformational, consumer-centric and more affordable care.

“Our National Council of Presidents conference and InnovationX competition enable us to connect with forward-thinking leaders and companies to learn first-hand how their opportunities, ideas and solutions uniquely align with our key priorities in a way that’s mutually beneficial and conducive to enhancing care and services for patients and consumers, and that is inspiring,” said Vickie White, vice president of marketing and innovation for Adventist Health System.
