NEW YORK, Aug. 30, 2017 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- As Chief of Pediatric Anesthesia at Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital and Sheridan Health Corporation, Dr. Sandra Kaufmann is being recognized as one of “America’s Best Doctors” by the American Health Council. Dr. Kaufmann has 21 years within the healthcare industry, including 5 in her current role. With expertise in Pediatric Anesthesia, the American Health Council is proud to highlight Dr. Kaufmann’s extensive education and career.
Dr. Kaufmann obtained her MD at the University of Maryland School of Medicine in 1996, and holds a Master’s in Tropical Ecology and Evolutionary Biology (with a focus on Cellular Biology) from the University of Connecticut. She has held Residencies in Anesthesiology and Neurological Surgery from Jackson Memorial Hospital. Dr. Kaufmann has also held a Fellowship in Pediatric Anesthesiology from Johns Hopkins University as well as a Transitional Year Internship at Baylor College of Medicine. She is Board-certified in both Anesthesiology and Pediatric Anesthesiology from the American Board of Anesthesiology.
Day to day responsibilities at both of Dr. Kaufmann’s places of work include growing the hospitals’ Anesthesia practices, as well as overseeing the department and conducting interviews for hiring.
Dr. Kaufmann is honored to have been presented with numerous local awards, and is affiliated with the Society of Pediatric Anesthesia. Her goals within the next five years include the continuation of growth and developments in her current role, and working alongside a partner for standards for all Pediatric programs within Sheridan’s healthcare system. She attributes her past and current success to great training, along with passion and dedication to her career.
Apart from being a Physician, Dr. Kaufmann is also an anti-ageing expert who is looking forward to publishing her first book on the subject. She enjoys the outdoors, and hikes and rock climbs in her spare time.
