Teq Celebrates New Educational Content That Champions Inclusion of Students with Disabilities

The Professional Development Company Joins Forces with the Viscardi Center

Huntington Station, New York, Aug. 31, 2017 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Teq, a leader in online professional development for teachers, announced a partnership with The Viscardi Center, an internationally recognized network of non-profit organizations that educates, employs, and empowers children and adults with disabilities.

The two New York-based organizations have partnered to offer educators professional development resources that showcase best practices for the inclusion of students with disabilities in classroom instruction and school activities. The inaugural online course, available this September, illustrates how assistive technology switches can be used with an iPad to ensure students with mobility limitations can wholly participate in tablet-based learning activities.

“The Viscardi Center is a recognized leader in combining assistive technology with educational technology in both K-12 and vocational education settings,” said Robert Wayne-Harris, Teq’s Chief Learning Officer. “Adding their expertise to Teq Online PD will provide a huge benefit to our subscribers who are looking for ways to allow students with disabilities to fully participate in their education.”

Over the next few months, additional courses produced by The Viscardi Center for Teq Online PD will be made available on the platform, which currently hosts hundreds of CTLE-approved courses on today’s most popular classroom technologies. The professional development content provided by Viscardi will cover a wide range of topics, including occupational therapy, speech language pathology, adaptive physical education, adaptive art and music, and STEAM-based learning, as well as youth transition to higher education, employment, and the community.

“Our partnership with Teq allows us to share the expertise of the educators, therapists, and staff at the Henry Viscardi School at The Viscardi Center,” said John D. Kemp, President & CEO of The Viscardi Center. “It is our hope that through this broad sharing of knowledge that students with disabilities across the country will become even more active participants in the learning process and acquire skills that can help them achieve economic and personal independence.”
