CALGARY, Alberta, Sept. 13, 2017 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- In the aftermath of Hurricane Irma, DIRTT Environmental Solutions (TSX:DRT) today confirms the safety of its Savannah, GA employees and says production has resumed at its Savannah manufacturing facility.
“Our employees and their families are always our number one concern, and we’re incredibly fortunate to confirm our people are safe,” says DIRTT President Scott Jenkins. “We are also grateful to have sustained only minimal damage from Hurricane Irma at DIRTT’s Savannah facility.”
DIRTT, a leading interior construction manufacturer, operates one of its four distributed manufacturing facilities in Savannah, locally employing more than 100 people. The area was put under emergency evacuation Sept. 9, 2017 ahead of Hurricane Irma, which passed through the area Sept. 11, leaving localized flooding, downed trees, and other debris in its wake.
In preparation of the hurricane, existing DIRTT orders slated for Savannah production were rerouted and absorbed into the manufacturing capacities of the company’s Phoenix and Calgary facilities. This ability to sustain production resulted in minimal disruption to clients.
Power and access to the Savannah facility were restored by Sept. 12 and operations recommenced today. DIRTT has communicated with any clients affected by changes in schedule as a result of this hurricane. DIRTT will have a better understanding of how they can be of assistance to others in the Savannah area as access is restored to communities in the coming days.
“Thank you to our DIRTT family and all stakeholders alike who supported us as we worked to keep everyone safe, while keeping production running through our other facilities,” says Jenkins. “In the days and weeks ahead, we look forward to working with our neighbors as we support one another and rebuild our community.”
