The 2017 FOX Fall Forum to Chronicle Family Journeys

Family members will present personal histories and offer learning about their experience

CHICAGO, Sept. 14, 2017 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Family Office Exchange (FOX), a global membership community of enterprise families and their key advisors, today announced the agenda for the 2017 FOX Fall Forum™, under the theme of Family Journeys: Traveling with Intention. The annual event takes place October 23-25 in Chicago.

The opening day, which is programmed for family members and family office executives, features five half-day seminars on key topics including

  • Preparing the Individual, the Family, and the Family Business for the Future
  • Family Learning Programs: Designing for Engagement
  • Building Trust in the Family Owner Group: Clarifying Roles and Aligning on Goals
  • Skin in the Game: A Creative Approach for Entrepreneurs to Raise Capital
  • Putting Data into Action: Analyzing Key Components of Your Family Office.

“The seminars allow participants to go deep on these important topics,” said Sara Hamilton, Founder & CEO of FOX. “We encourage families to attend the FOX Fall Forum with multiple family members because these sessions will be meaningful to different people depending on their roles in the family or the family office.”

Additionally, there will be a number of keynote sessions, the highlights of which include:

  • Changing Course: The Fink Family’s Journey from Business Innovators to Impact Investors – Before Betsy and Jesse Fink founded Marshall Street Management and Jesse Fink was the founding COO of Priceline.com, the couple shared a passion for environmental solutions. Post-IPO, they chose to focus deeply on this early interest. Hear how their experiences have influenced their views on wealth ownership and the meaning of prosperity, as well as how values are created and family dynamics are shaped in a first generation family.
  • Generational Transitions Journey – Family office executive Jill Koosman, with G3 family members Kate Tilney and Katherine Hayes, will highlight how the family and office staff worked together to complete a significant generational transition—meeting the rising generation’s needs while respecting the evolution of the family’s legacy and culture.
  • Taking an Imagineer’s Approach to the Future – Imagine what the year 2030 might look like for you and the people you serve. What key trends must be watched? Amy Hart Clyne of FOX will identify the four key themes that surfaced when the trends were studied at the 2017 FOX Thought Leaders Council Summit and describe how they impact the private wealth owner community.
  • Eliminating Drama in Your Family – Jim Dethmer, Co-founder of The Conscious Leadership Group, admits that all families have drama. His session will feature an interactive experience to help attendees identify the sources of family drama and discover how to move forward with conscious, trust-based leadership.
  • The Aspirational Investor: Achieving Your Life’s Goals – Dr. Ashvin Chhabra, President of Euclidean Capital, offers practical and innovative framework for making smarter choices about aligning family goals to investment strategy. Chhabra reveals some surprising facts about wealth creation, reinterprets success formulas of investing greats like Warren Buffett, and closes the gap between theory and practice of wealth preservation.

“When members of the FOX Community get together, no matter what topic is being discussed, stories about their family journeys are always compelling,” says Amy Hart Clyne, executive director of the FOX Knowledge Center and architect of the FOX Fall Forum. “This year’s agenda features families who have found meaning and purpose in their journeys and will openly share their stories for attendees to enjoy in the company of old and new friends.”

The Forum offers a number of ways for family members and family office executives to meet each other and share experiences. There will be an orientation and networking session for first time attendees as well as six moderated peer dialogue sessions. Rising Generation leaders will meet and exchange thoughts at their own cocktail reception. Day One features a private dinner for family members and family office executives, and Day Two concludes with an All Member dinner that includes trusted advisor members.
