OAKVILLE, Ontario, Oct. 04, 2017 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Terrestrial Energy, a vendor of advanced reactor power plants, expands its Corporate Industrial Advisory Board with the addition of Bruce Power. Bruce Power is the owner and operator of the Bruce Nuclear Generating Station in southern Ontario, the largest operating nuclear power plant in the world. Bruce Power is represented on the Advisory Board by Michael Rencheck, its Chief Executive Officer.
Canada’s nuclear electric utilities: Bruce Power, NB Power and Ontario Power Generation, are now represented on Terrestrial Energy’s Corporate Advisory board. They own and operate 19 nuclear reactors at four sites in Canada, which provide over 15 per cent of Canada’s electricity with zero emissions, and approximately 60 per cent of the electricity to Ontario, Canada’s most populous province. These utility companies, each represented by their chief executives, provide guidance to Terrestrial Energy as it advances its engineering and regulatory programs for Integral Molten Salt Reactor (IMSR®) power plant development and deployment in Canada.
“With Bruce Power pursuing a major refurbishment at the world’s largest operating nuclear power plant, the insights of CEO Michael Rencheck will be a valuable contribution to the development of our innovative IMSR® technology,” said Simon Irish CEO of Terrestrial Energy.
