GUELPH, Ontario, Oct. 30, 2017 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Ground-breaking celebrations took place today for area farmers as construction began for a new state-of-the-art fertilizer facility at FS PARTNERS’ agronomy site in Ayr.
The 15,000-tonne facility will have nine bins to give flexibility for retail blending needs. It will also have a blending system capable of mixing up to 2,000 tonnes of crop nutrient products per day, more than doubling the old capacity of 800 tonnes per day. The facility will be capable of receiving products by rail and truck.
“We see this as an excellent investment for the future and confirms our true commitment to provide greater efficiencies for our farmer-owners, our customers and for retailers in the Ontario marketplace,” says Frank Barron, FS PARTNERS division manager. “Once construction is completed, it will give us increased capability to best serve our customers,” he added.
Construction is expected to be completed in about a year’s time and the new plant will be a shared asset between GROWMARK, Inc. and its retail division FS PARTNERS. GROWMARK will use it to distribute to area retailers and FS PARTNERS will utilize it to serve its farmer-customers.
GROWMARK, Inc. is an agricultural co-operative providing agronomy, energy, and logistics products and services, as well as grain marketing and risk management services in Ontario and more than 40 states in the U.S. GROWMARK owns the FS trademark, which is used by affiliated member co-operatives.
