-We have turned helplessness into hope, and fear into empowerment, said Ricardo Salinas, Founder and Chairman of Grupo Salinas-
-I am impressed on how efficient every dollar has been spent by Fundación Azteca to rebuild homes in the most affected regions, mentioned Jose Calderon, President of Hispanic Federation-
NEW YORK, Dec. 13, 2017 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Fundación Azteca, the philanthropic arm of Grupo Salinas in Mexico, and Hispanic Federation, the nation’s premier Latino nonprofit membership organization, joined forces in September to support the affected families by the devastating earthquakes in Mexico City and other Mexican states.
Hispanic Federation established the “Mexico Earthquake Relief” to raise funds in the United States that were designated to build homes in Mexico. Last week, Jose Calderón - President of the Hispanic Federation - visited San Simonito in the State of Mexico to witness firsthand the results of the joint effort.
"We are incredibly pleased to partner with Fundación Azteca in this amazing endeavor. A home means so much – a secure shelter, an abode to raise children, a place to strengthen ties to family and friends. We are proud, not only of the efficient use of dollars, but that families themselves helped build their own homes, thus strengthening feelings of ownership,” mentioned Mr. Calderón. "We are extremely happy to help restore normality to families and communities in Mexico."
Fundación Azteca has built homes in the States of Mexico, Morelos, Chiapas and Oaxaca. The foundation has been working since September to rebuild the affected homes, providing families with necessary material, as well as guidance during the reconstruction process.
"We have turned helplessness into hope, and fear into empowerment. We are helping to rebuild homes in many of the most affected communities, bringing joy to families during this holiday season. We are set to build over 400 homes in the State of Mexico, and southeastern states of the country," said Mr. Salinas. "I want to thank all the people who have joined this effort, specially the leadership of Hispanic Federation, for the prompt and valuable support."
Ricardo Salinas, Fundación Azteca and Hispanic Federation would like to thank all the people who have donated to ensure hundreds of families have a home. Grupo Salinas is proud to support initiatives that create social, economic and environmental value in the communities where it operates.
