In unprecedented style, BIGHORN tore down its old Clubhouse at the height of its popularity and built a new one in only 16 months. Members who went without a Clubhouse for only one season were welcomed back this year to a new standard for Clubhouse design and environment. While traditional Clubhouses serve primarily as a place for golfers to gather before and after a round, BIGHORN’s Clubhouse serves a greater purpose. As BIGHORN’s leader and Chairman, R D. Nearly 2,000 lineal feet of champagne-painted fascia contrasts the Clubhouse from the desert’s blue skies, and complements perfectly the interior and exterior walls of travertine imported from Portugal and the expansive floor of limestone imported from Peru. The stretch and reach of the structure was possible by the use of two million pounds of structural steel, one million pounds of rebar, and 95,000 cubic feet of concrete. So as not to obstruct views from generous patios and terraces accessing almost every area of the Clubhouse, unique glass panel railings add another dimension to the architecture of the building.
New event spaces, both indoor and outdoor, will facilitate BIGHORN’s more than 100 in-season events and accommodate its additional 250 private parties. Besides the sophisticated interiors and unique, handmade faux finish surfaces complementing exquisite furniture, furnishings and art pieces found throughout the building, the bespoke Sharon Marston created, 16-foot long chandelier of hand blown glass leaves tied to strands of lighted fiber optics may be the crown jewel. It is dazzling array as seen from afar or up close as one descends or ascends the grand stairwell connecting the main floor to The Hub.
