Edo Japan Brings a Fresh Take to Edmonton Market

Canadian-made eatery revitalizes brand concept with vision for accelerated growth

EDMONTON, Alberta, Jan. 25, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Edmontonians are invited to experience popular quick service restaurant Edo Japan (Edo) in a whole new way as the eatery unveils its new in-store concept: Edo Japan Fresh Take. The Alberta-based franchise is launching Fresh Take at its newest street front location in North Town Centre. Edo also opened two other new locations in Edmonton this past December: Shops of Granville and Heritage Valley. These locations are new hybrid designs featuring elements of the Fresh Take concept.

The most recent evolution of the Edo brand is the first step in propelling it towards a number of new store openings and further expansion in the Edmonton market and beyond. The Fresh Take concept includes an updated store design and layout; refreshed branding; on-trend menu evolution; and a grab and go market wall with a variety of sushi, salads and Japanese-inspired snacks and treats; and more. Moving forward, new store builds will feature the new Fresh Take layout and in-store offerings, while existing franchise locations will begin to incorporate key elements of the new design and branding. Well-loved dishes like Edo’s Teriyaki Chicken and Sukiyaki Beef will remain as mainstays in all locations, while new offerings such as the Noodlefull and Chop Chop Bowls, imported snacks, and other items will continue to appear on the menu in an effort to bring even more convenience, choice and variety to customers.

“The people of Edmonton have fostered the growth of the Edo Japan brand for many years, and we are excited to be unveiling our new concept for the first time in such a supportive environment,” said David Minnett, President and CEO. “Our vision for Fresh Take is to continue to embrace the key principles that have made Edo Japan so successful to date, while bringing an updated feel to our restaurant design and menu as we continue to serve our loyal customers.”

The launch of Fresh Take in Edmonton will be followed by another new concept location in Calgary, opening in early 2018. With over 120 locations across Western Canada, Edo also has set its sights on expanding east and incorporating the Fresh Take concept into new and existing locations across the country.

“Edo’s ongoing success in Western Canada, combined with our revitalized design and ongoing menu evolution, is intended to help us accelerate growth as we introduce Edo Japan to new markets throughout the country,” said Minnett.

To celebrate the launch of Fresh Take, all three Edmonton locations will be hosting celebratory grand opening events on January 27 with family fun activities, meal promotions and the chance to enter to win a variety of door prizes, including Edo Japan for a year. Edmonton’s North Town Centre, Shops of Granville and Heritage Valley locations will be open on event day from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.
