Washington, DC, Feb. 12, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Starting this week, students, military servicemen and women and foodservice educators can apply for scholarship awards to pursue their dreams of becoming future leaders of the restaurant and foodservice industry.
The National Restaurant Association Educational Foundation awards over $750,000 in scholarships and grants annually to students pursuing post-secondary education and training, with help from leading restaurant and foodservice companies and organizations, such as the Women’s Foodservice Forum, Hormel and the Wingstop Foundation. Awards range from $2,500 to $10,000 and can be used towards tuition and fees, books, room and board and other school-related expenses. The scholarships have no age restrictions—whether applicants are recent high-school graduates or adults looking to make a career change, eligible individuals can apply at any age.
“Offering scholarships for those who are passionate about pursuing careers in restaurants and foodservice brings more awareness about opportunity in the industry,” said Rob Gifford, executive vice president of the NRAEF. “Whether you’re a freshman in college, a ProStart educator or a military veteran, we provide financial support to help you fulfill your dreams in restaurant and foodservice.”
The Foundation has provided scholarships for over 30 years and awarded over 270 individuals with scholarship and educator grants in 2017. The NRAEF is also a member of the National Scholarship Providers Association (NSPA), a vital source for thought leadership and best practices for scholarship program management.
Applications must be completed online at ChooseRestaurants.org. Educators will also have access to scholarship applications at the end of January.
