Louisville, KY, Feb. 13, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Appriss Health, provider of the most comprehensive platform for substance use disorder (SUD) in the U.S., today announced it has integrated Indiana’s Prescription Drug Monitoring Program (INSPECT) data into Community Healthcare System’s (CHS) Epic electronic health records (EHR). Community Healthcare System consists of three not-for-profit hospitals in Northwest Indiana: Community Hospital, Munster; St. Catherine Hospital, East Chicago; and St. Mary Medical Center, Hobart. INSPECT, provided through PMP Gateway, enables CHS’ medical staff instant access to prescription drug monitoring program (PDMP) data in support of clinical decision making within workflow to improve patient safety and outcomes.
In August 2017, Indiana announced a state-sponsored initiative and made available a statewide, comprehensive platform for healthcare professionals to review patients' controlled substance prescription history more quickly and efficiently. This platform, PMP Gateway, supports INSPECT and transfers data directly into EHRs and pharmacy management systems. Statewide integration of the INSPECT platform is a key component of Indiana's ongoing efforts to attack the opioid crisis. Upon state approval, INSPECT users can access multi-state PDMP data, including data from all border states, in a single query through one integration process.
For CHS’ care teams, PMP Gateway enables efficient access to a patient’s prescription information within the Epic EHR workflow. Previously, physicians needed to log in to a separate website to retrieve a patient’s controlled substance dispensations from INSPECT, then cross-reference that data with the patient’s health information in disparate systems.
