Violet Defense Technology Partners with Shepherd’s Hope to Bring Ultraviolet Technology to their Health Centers

ORLANDO, Fla., Feb. 14, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Violet Defense Technology, an Orlando-based startup that incorporates the proven germ-killing power of UV light into its patented technology, is partnering with Shepherd’s Hope, a non-profit organization that provides medical services to uninsured and underinsured people throughout Central Florida, to bring hospital-grade cleaning to their clinic environment.  Shepherd’s Hope has helped provide free medical visits to over 256,000 people since it opened in 1997.

Violet Defense is donating $15,000 worth of its products from its Surface & Air Germ Elimination (S.A.G.E.) UV line to the Shepherd’s Hope Longwood clinic as part of its initial donation of an ongoing commitment.  Violet Defense will be installing whole room units to disinfect the clinic’s waiting room.

The S.A.G.E. units will automatically disinfect the waiting area each night, including the children’s play area to ensure each morning patients have access to clean, healthy space while they wait for care.  Shepherd’s Hope also has access to S.A.G.E. UV Mini – a mobile version that can be brought into exam rooms to help kill harmful bacteria and viruses that may be present.

S.A.G.E. UV units have been proven to effectively kill up to 99.9 percent of the most common germs, including MRSA, E. coli, Salmonella and Norovirus, from as far as three meters away. By combining UV-C, UV-B, UV-A and violet blue light, S.A.G.E. UV optimizes the amount of the germ-killing energy delivered through the air and onto surrounding contact surfaces. This causes inactivation of microbes and inhibits reproduction, effectively preventing the spread of harmful bacteria and viruses.

The S.A.G.E. UV units are a cost-effective way to bring this proven technology to those that need it.  “Not only are we excited to be able to partner with an organization with such an incredible mission, this is exactly why we started this business - to provide solutions for clinical-level cleaning in spaces that might not otherwise have access to them,” said Mark Nathan, CEO of Violet Defense.

“We are extremely grateful to Violet Defense for bringing this technology to our clinics,” said Marni Stahlman, President of Shepherd’s Hope.  “Not only will this technology help us keep our patients that much safer, it also helps protect the amazing volunteers and staff that provide such incredible care to those we serve,” added Stahlman.
