VANCOUVER, British Columbia, Feb. 20, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- European Electric Metals Inc. (“EVX”) (TSXV:EVX) is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Jose Mario Branco as Chief Geologist.
Mr. Branco has a track record of success throughout Europe including exploration leadership roles at Lundin Mining Corporation (“Lundin”), Rio Tinto and Rio Narcea Gold Mines S.A.
In addition to experience forming and executing exploration programs, Mr. Branco is also an experienced deal-maker, being involved in the negotiation of multiple successful corporate, joint venture and earn-in agreements.
For six years, Mr. Branco was the Regional Exploration Manager Europe for Lundin, a global mining company with multiple projects varying from exploration through to development and mining. While at Lundin, Mr. Branco led the team credited with discovering the Semblana mineral deposit near Neves Corvo. He also provided expert assessments and project evaluations for Lundin, including at Las Cruces in Seville which is now in production as well as an additional major undertaking which is currently at the Prefeasibility stage.
Prior to his time at Lundin, Mr. Branco was Exploration Manager (Portugal) for Rio Narcea Gold Mines S.A for eight years, after his nine year role Project Geologist for Rio Tinto, one of the world’s largest mining companies.
Mr. Branco was attracted to EVX due to the significant potential of the company’s Rehova Copper Project located in the southern European country, Albania. In addition to his leadership role as the company advances Rehova, he will also be tasked with generating and evaluating other European projects that host metals important to electrification.
Mr. Branco is a member of the Society of Economic Geologists, the Society for Geology Applied to Mineral Deposits and the European Federation of Geologists. He is also a member and a Director of the Portuguese Association of Geologists. Mr. Branco has also authored multiple published papers on European geology.
