VANCOUVER, British Columbia, March 08, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The Canadian Apparel Federation (CAF) has selected SGS North America as its partner to deliver a workshop series for Canadian manufacturers and retailers in the apparel, textile and footwear industries. The workshops provide education on critical existing and upcoming regulations that impact Canadian companies who manufacture, test or trade products internationally. “We are pleased to work with the CAF. With SGS’ global network of testing labs for consumer goods, we are in a unique position to educate Canadian suppliers on industry-specific regulations that can help them sustain their global operations and remain competitive on an international scale,” said Louann Spirito, Business and Technical Head of Softlines at SGS North America.
International trade regulations are continuously evolving and expanding. In order for companies to remain compliant from both operational and legal perspectives, they must fully understand the regulations applicable to their product categories and be aware of associated regulatory changes. For this reason, the CAF and SGS intend to continue these workshops at the beginning of each year, while also offering this educational service throughout the year. “One of the CAF’s mandates is to provide important resources to its 250 members, especially in the area of global compliance issues. Based on the success of our workshops in Toronto and Montreal earlier this year, we were pleased to conclude our third workshop in Vancouver yesterday, to support companies in Canada’s three largest metropolitan areas,” said Bob Kirke, Executive Director of the Canadian Apparel Federation. Over 100 Canadian companies joined the CAF-hosted workshop series this year, with many sending their entire compliance and quality control teams.
