Scarlett James Grande Revue at Club Soda 

MONTREAL, April 10, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- On April 28, 2018, international burlesque queen Scarlett James celebrates her 10-year career with a dazzling spectacle. For one night only, Scarlett Grande Revue will bring together the finest performers, circus artists, vaudeville wonders, comedians and musicians at Club Soda. Together, they are re-igniting the spirit of the 1940s, a time during which Montreal was the number-one destination for international jazz stars, variety acts, and daring, flamboyant showgirls.

Scarlett James, who is at the top of her game, will take to the stage to delight fans with a musical revue of her most grandiose burlesque numbers, including her world-famous giant champagne glass; The Carousel Horse, a recent hit at the Montreal Casino; and The Chandelier, a number only seen previously in Las Vegas.

Les Separatwists, one of Canada’s best burlesque-jazz bands, will provide the swinging live score to a night filled with performances by some of Scarlett’s dearest fellow artists and burlesque stars: Anouk Vallée, the mistress of the aerial silks; the award-winning Lady Josephine, the delicious Lexxi Brown, the baffling mind reader duo, the Sentimentalists, Loulou la Duchesse and the indomitable Audrey Ivory. MC Mr. Arman is well known at the Casino de Montreal.

While the Grande Revue will be packed with stellar performances, one element will be missing: plastic straws. Scarlett, who is also a yoga instructor, uses her voice and decided to ban the notorious pollutants from all her productions, including the upcoming Montreal Burlesque Festival. “Plastic straws were first introduced in 1960 and became a major environmental scourge,” explained Scarlett. “I intend to do my part to eliminate them completely. Our future and that of our children is at stake. I believe there is always something we can do, no matter how big or small, to protect our planet.”

Scarlett, who grew up in a small seaside town in France, admired the glamour of Hollywood’s golden age and dreamed of bringing fantasy, joy and escapism to audiences everywhere. Through hard work, resilience and fearless devotion, she became a celebrity on five continents. Her high-class performances, breathtaking acts and strong personality are highly coveted. She is widely credited for bringing burlesque to the Canadian mainstream, thanks to her appearances for luxury brands, including Bentley Motors Inc., Moët & Chandon, M1NT and Buddha Bar. A scholar of her craft, she is the co-author with historian Michel Grondin of Burlesque: The True Art of Seduction, a book about the landmark moments in the history of burlesque.

In 2009, Scarlett James founded the Montreal Burlesque Festival, an annual sold-out three-day spectacle, featuring the best burlesque headliners in the world and the fabulous Mister & Miss Burlesque pageant. The 2018 edition, will take place at Club Soda on October 18, 19, and 21.
