Specialized mental health services serving Veterans in Saskatchewan this Spring
ATTENTION: Local Editors
SASKATOON, Saskatchewan, April 23, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The Veterans Transition Program is making its way to Saskatchewan for the first time on May 11th, bringing valuable programs to help Veterans transition from the military to a productive and meaningful civilian life.
The programs by the Veterans Transition Network are backed by 20 years of published research and have shown life-altering changes to Veterans’ mental health, personal relationships, and careers, many of whom have never sought professional help or have been denied aid from the government.
This spring, the Veterans Transition Network will be bringing these programs to Veterans in the Wheat Province. The program will take place an hour outside of Saskatoon and all expenses, including transportation and accommodation will be covered by the Veterans Transition Network.
"I'm so excited to see our programs come to Saskatchewan,” says Oliver Thorne, National Director of Operations. “Distance can be a big barrier for Veterans to getting care and bringing the Veterans Transition Program to Saskatchewan will reduce that barrier. It is so important to bring support services to where Veterans are located."
The transition period from military to civilian life is often the most difficult and critical time for Veterans. David B., retired Air Force Search and Rescue Pilot and graduate of the VTN program is one of those 850 lives who have been transformed by the charitable organization.
“My life is in really, really good shape,” he says. “And the rescue hoist that plucked me out of the water was the VTN.”
There are a few spaces left so if you know of a Veteran who would benefit from this program, please get in touch with Oliver Thorne at west@vtncanada.org.
