ATLANTA, GA, May 07, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The team at New Acquisitions, premiere marketing firm in the Atlanta area, prides themselves in their community involvement. The firm recently participated in an event alongside Habitat for Humanity’s Atlanta chapter. On Saturday, April 14th, the New Acquisitions team banded together to help construct a new home for the organization.
The volunteers helped with the siding and roofing of a newly built home. They worked together with groups from other companies to finish the home and make it move in ready for a deserving family in need.
The houses, however, are not built solely by volunteers. According to the Habitat for Humanity website, the future homeowners also participate in the building and renovation of the houses they will call home. Families also attend financial education and budget planning classes to help them become financially stable. Others help staff the Habitat for Humanity ReStores, which are non-profit home improvement stores and donation centers that sell new and gently used furniture, appliances, accessories for the home, and various building materials for a fraction of what they would cost in a normal retail store.
Account manager at New Acquisitions, Victor Baruchman, was enthusiastic about the company’s involvement in the charity and thoroughly enjoyed his time volunteering for the cause.
“It’s easy to take things for granted in life, even the roof over your head,” said Baruchman. “We as a community have to look out for each other sometimes and what a better gift to give someone than shelter and a place to call their own?”
Many others share Baruchman’s sentiment. In fact, since the Habitat for Humanity organization was founded in 1976, the charity has helped more than 13.2 million people acquire housing. In 2017 alone, the organization helped 3.5 million people improve their living conditions.
Vishal Khana, co-director at New Acquisitions and University of Georgia alum, also attended the volunteer event and felt fulfilled and humbled by the experience.
“I love attending events like this with our team because we get to be together outside of the office while also positively impacting our community,” said Khana. “Our corporate culture is based on contribution and giving back. I’m glad that we have a team that really shares those ideals and values.”
At the end of the day, the New Acquisitions team celebrated their accomplishments with a well deserved rest and parted ways with the new homeowners and the Habitat for Humanity team. However, they don’t believe that they’ll be gone for too long.
“Working with Habitat for Humanity was an incredible experience and I’m sure we’ll be back and ready for more in the very near future!” exclaimed Khana.
