Lever Unveils GDPR Compliance Toolkit to Help Recruiting Teams Achieve Compliance With Active and Passive Candidates

New Comprehensive and Flexible Set of Features Helps Customers Quickly and Confidently Meet GDPR Obligations Ahead of May 25th Deadline

SAN FRANCISCO, May 15, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Lever, the recruiting software for more than 1,500 leading companies around the world, today unveiled a new toolkit to help organizations easily and efficiently achieve General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) compliance for their recruiting efforts by the May 25th deadline.

Available to all Lever customers, Lever’s GDPR Compliance Toolkit offers a comprehensive set of features that addresses key GDPR requirements, including the ability to provide notice to candidates of data processing; gather, track, and refresh candidate consent where necessary; set data retention timeframes and respond to candidate rights requests. The GDPR Compliance Toolkit also offers flexible workflows and configurations to support each customer’s unique compliance needs, and built-in guidance, alerts, and reports to make it easy for teams to remain compliant.

“Our own research shows 61 percent of companies are highly concerned about the impact of GDPR on their recruiting and hiring processes, including how they recruit and source passive candidates,” said Sarah Nahm, CEO of Lever.  “We know how important data privacy and security are for our customers across more than 40 countries, and have invested a great deal in our GDPR Compliance Toolkit to assuage their concerns. The solution is fully-featured, with built-in guidance and automation to help our customers recruit on a global scale and proactively meet their compliance obligations with confidence."

Key components of Lever’s GDPR Compliance Toolkit let customers:

  • Collect, track, and refresh consent for active and passive candidates - Unlike other ATS vendors, Lever provides flexible workflows for both candidate consent and legitimate interest. Companies choosing to rely on consent can ask applicants for consent during the application process, and seek consent from sourced candidates using consent links.
  • Provide notice - Lever allows customers to provide notice of their data processing activities via links to their privacy policy on their Lever application form.
  • Respond to candidate rights requests - Lever’s candidate rights page makes it easy for candidates to request to view and edit their data, or opt to be removed from the database entirely. Lever will send automatic reminders, assign tasks to candidate owners, and generate reports to ensure requests are resolved promptly and no request falls through the cracks.
  • Set data retention timeframes - Lever allows companies to determine a data retention period, automatically identifies candidates who have been in the database beyond the retention period, and prompts users to take appropriate action.
  • Anonymize candidate data - Lever ensures that organizations can meet GDPR requirements for managing candidate data while preserving the integrity of their reports with the ability to anonymize personally identifiable candidate data after a specified period of time.

“Getting ready for the GDPR has definitely been a challenge, but we're all in the same boat,” said Heather Luth, Project Manager of Strategic Initiatives for Talent Acquisition at Veon, the multinational telecommunications services company headquartered in Amsterdam. “Everyone is navigating through how to achieve compliance at the same time, and it's been very reassuring to work with vendors like Lever who are well-versed in the regulation and committed to helping us meet our obligations.”
