KEMP, Texas, May 22, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Hal Richards, received an endorsement for Kaufman county judge from Jim Thompson, former Kaufman School Board President. In a video edited and distributed by Larson Electronics LLC, Thompson announced his support of Hal citing his vast experience, integrity and “servant’s heart”.
“You have to have some experience in knowing how to deal with the public, be a good communicator, have some leadership qualities that allows you to have some influence,” said Thompson in regard to the county judge position. “Not only over the public and accommodating citizens but also the county commissioners as well. To help guide them through the decision-making process and also just the heavy responsibilities – setting tax rates, dealing with roads and bridges, and the county budget. I understand the county budget is actually less than what the city of Terrell’s budget was when Hal was mayor, so his experience in the past sets him up well and gives him the qualifications needed to be our county judge.” Jim Thompson was a member of the Kaufman school board for 15 years, the last 10 of which he was president. Having dealt with similar duties as county judge and understanding what type of person it takes to take on that role, he believes Hal Richards is right for the job.
“Something that’s important to me is the character of elected officials, and I feel really good about endorsing Hal because I’ve known him for a long time. But what’s most important to me is not only that he has good character and integrity, he’s a great communicator and you have to be able to have those traits to be in the position of county judge,” stated Norman. “He has a servant’s heart and he wants this job because he wants to improve the quality of life in our county and that’s a significant reason to want to be a county judge, and that’s why I support him.”
