Owl Cyber Defense Unveils “ReCon” Bidirectional Data Diode-Based Cybersecurity Solution

New Product Designed for Secure Remote Command & Control

Ridgefield, CT, May 31, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Ridgefield, CT – March 15, 2018 – Owl Cyber Defense Solutions, LLC (“Owl”), the market leader in data diode network cybersecurity solutions, is proud to announce the release of the all new Owl ReCon solution. ReCon is a proprietary, data diode-based cybersecurity solution, designed for secure two-way data transfer for remote command and control or remote monitoring.

ReCon is a hardware-based cybersecurity solution utilizing two independent, highly restricted one-way paths. The solution enables customers to reduce their attack surface area while providing higher security than traditional software-based firewalls. In addition to the hardware-enforced solutions for “one-way into” and “one-way out of” secure networks, ReCon covers the third component recommended by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security – to secure and highly restrict any remaining required two-way connections.

“The need for a secure exchange of information between devices and networks has grown in the recent years, particularly in critical infrastructure ecosystems,” said Mark Toussaint, Product Manager for Owl. “Accessing operational data to the IT is critical for analysis, secure remote command, remote help desk and control. These services require bi-directional communication to ensure business continuity. We are thrilled to be introducing this new solution that marries seamless remote command and control with the unmatched assurance of hardware-enforced security.”

Owl ReCon ensures network security, providing a highly-controlled pathway between OT and IT, enabling visibility into plant operations or remote command of a particular system. ReCon removes the need for an “air-gapped” architecture, and greatly improves the security of the Industrial Internet of Things.

“It is mission-critical for Owl to continue innovating security solutions that not only provide effective network security and next-gen data sharing for big data and analytics, but also meet the modern needs of secure access and visibility into operational networks.” said Sal Morlando, Owl COO.
