National Vision Announces 2018 College Scholarship Recipients

Leading Optical Retailer Awards up to $50,000 to Support Continued Education

DULUTH, Ga., June 12, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- National Vision Holdings, Inc., (NASDAQ:EYE) one of the nation’s largest optical retailers providing quality, affordable eye care and eyewear, is pleased to announce the selection of five high school seniors as recipients of the 2018 National Vision College Scholarship Program. Recipients will receive $2,500 to fund the advancement of their education. The award is renewable for up to three additional years, for a total potential scholarship of $10,000 per student.

“We are honored to play a role in furthering the academic achievements of members of our National Vision family,” said Reade Fahs, Chief Executive Officer of National Vision. “We would like to congratulate all five scholarship winners and wish each one of them success throughout their college journey and future career.”

Established in 2006, the program has awarded a total of more than $370,000 in scholarships to 50 students since its inception. The highly selective evaluation process includes consideration of students’ past academic performance, future potential, leadership, participation in school and community activities, work experience, career and educational aspirations, unusual personal or family circumstances, and an outside appraisal.

National Vision proudly offers this scholarship opportunity to all students whose parents are employed by National Vision or certain affiliated healthcare practices. Applicants must be high school seniors or graduates who plan to enroll for the first time at an accredited two- or four-year college or university.

Dedicated to supporting continued education, earlier this year National Vision awarded three optometry students the 2017-2018 National Vision Optometry Student Grant. Now in its fourth year, the grant program asked third- and fourth-year optometry students what inspired them to become optometrists and what they believe to be their personal mission as future optometrists. The first place recipient received a $5,000 grand prize with both runner-ups receiving $1,000 grants.
