ORLANDO, Fla., June 14, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- World Housing Solution Inc. (WHS), Florida Hospital Nicholson Center and the Puerto Rico Department of Health today announce the distribution of portable medical units provided by Clinics on Wheels – an all-new division of WHS – to Puerto Rico to aid those affected by Hurricane Maria. Engineered by WHS, these custom, first-of-its-kind solar powered medical clinics include Florida Hospital Nicholson Center’s Mobile Med Solution, a high-definition video conferencing tool giving patients access to remote medical expertise and immediate treatment.
These three custom-designed and revolutionary mobile clinics serve as a general medical clinic with x-ray, an OB-GYN/pediatric clinic, and a dentist’s office. The clinics are easily transported by medium duty pick-up trucks and equipped with some of WHS’ leading, military-grade designs and features, including the integration of Elastic Grid™ which features a solar/batteries/generator power system. The units also incorporate extensive insulation, leveling capabilities, and hurricane resistance.
As a result of the collaboration with Florida Hospital Nicholson Center, Clinics on Wheels’ telehealth capabilities allow seamless doctor-to-doctor and doctor-to-patient communication, connecting each clinic back to the main hospital in San Juan. The video feed provides high-quality imagery that is easily transmitted to phones, tablets or computers. If a clinic encounters a complex case, multiple on-call physicians can be conferenced in to assist. Because of this, patients can start different treatment options without having to wait for a second appointment with another doctor.
“We originally created our telemedicine technology to provide revolutionary remote medical training across the globe. The fact that we can now work with World Housing Solution to bring this technology to help thousands of Americans get the healthcare they need is fantastic,” said Scott Bond, administrator of the Florida Hospital Nicholson Center. “The Mobile Med Solution has the usability of FaceTime with operating room quality, allowing seamless communication between hospitals and clinics. Puerto Rico is in need of an easy-to-use health solution, and we look forward to making that happen through accessibility and connectivity.”
Through funding from FEMA and purchased by the Department of Health of Puerto Rico, Clinics on Wheels is sending the three facilities to the island of Vieques, in the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico. All three clinics will be long-enduring and feature the revolutionary Sherwin-Williams Paint Shield® – the first EPA-registered microbicidal paint that kills greater than 99.9 percent of Staph (Staphylococcus aureus), MRSA (Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus), E. coli (Escherichia coli), VRE (Vancomycin-resistant Enterococcus faecalis) and Enterobacter aerogenes on painted surfaces within two hours of exposure, and continues to kill 90 percent of bacteria for up to four years when the integrity of the surface is maintained.
“As a company founded on providing safe, sustainable, and reliable structures, and expeditionary solutions for the military and those in need, such as our fellow Americans affected by Hurricane Maria, this new branch - Clinics on Wheels - creates a new way to provide quality medical facilities and services to victims in disaster-stricken areas,” said Ron Ben-Zeev, CEO of World Housing Solution. “Those affected and hurt by natural or man-made disasters are often wounded or exposed to diseases and infections and seldom have access to high level medical care – we wanted to help solve that problem.”
