IQM’s Data Predicts Women Voters and Candidates Will Shape California Politics Through the Midterms

Data Driven Voter Solutions Provider Finds Women and their Issue Priorities are Overwhelmingly Shaping 2018 Policy Platforms and Winning Campaigns

New York, NY, June 21, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- IQM, a leading data management technology and solutions provider working exclusively with progressive campaigns, has released its latest model of voters’ opinions, motivations, and level of open-mindedness in the state of California.

The results of Tuesday’s Super Primary Day reinforce an IQM assertion in the lead-up to the November midterm elections. Just like pop-diva Beyonce sings, [women] run the world. They are the leading force of an expected ‘blue wave’ across the nation. IQM’s download found registered women voters outnumber men in California by more than five percentage votes. Plus, more women support progressive platforms and are more aligned with the Democratic Party.

IQM apply proprietary algorithms and machine learning processes to voter rolls provided by its clients to the company. IQM in turn supplements these profiles* with polling and consumer information provided by reputable data partners. * They are business intelligence and political data industry leaders with proven security infrastructures that respect a voter’s right to privacy. Neither IQM, nor its data partners can change any vote cast in a national or local election.

The latest California model provides more concrete explanations why a record number of women are running for the House and Senate, and why Democratic women in particular — are winning in state primaries.

IQM’s findings also provide new insights into the Trump White House. Women were found to favor a national healthcare plan for all, new regulations that will require food makers to disclose when their products contain genetically modified ingredients (GMOs), and enhanced pro-choice legislation and protections.

Chintan Buch, CTO, and Co-Founder at IQM said, “The smart economy and the internet of things have revolutionized the way marketers and content developers can now reach audiences. In the last decade, innovative companies and data scientists have empowered political campaigns to better understand their voters. This leads to more insightful political messages and candidates who are more responsive to the needs of voters. That is politics at its best.”

He added: “our methods for predicting a voter’s journey to the booth continue to evolve and become more precise. But our first responsibility will always be to protect a citizen’s rights to privacy and the sanctity of individual votes.”

California Women Outregister Men Statewide

Women have a substantial voter registration advantage over men in California based on the IQM data. Figure 1 shows that registered women outnumber their male counterparts by six percentage points. This gap is much wider than raw state census figures would suggest. There are roughly 100 women in California for every 99 men in the state, but the IQM’s analysis found that there are 88 male registered voters in the state for every 100 female registered voters.

The statewide registration advantage for California women occurs in 52 of the 53 congressional districts in the state. The one district where women don’t have a registration advantage is the California 12th, currently represented by former Speaker of the House Representative Nancy Pelosi.

Party Affiliation Powerful As Ever

Women have historically leaned Democrat and continue to do so in ‘The Golden State,’ according to IQM. Female voters who identify themselves as “Democratic” and “Strongly Democratic” significantly outnumber men. IQM’s data analysis found that approximately one-third of California women voters don’t clearly align with one specific party.

The Trump White House

The President’s job approval numbers in California statistically match up to national numbers. In a national approval poll published in February 2018, the commander-and-chief had an -18 approval rating among women.

IQM’s data found that an additional 10 percent of unaligned California women disapprove of President Trump’s job performance. Unaligned is a voter whose never demonstrated a specific party affiliation in elections. Seven percent of unaligned male voters disapprove of the current administration as well.

Other Trump-related findings included--only 12 percent of California unaligned women voters (UWV) are not concerned about the President’s Russian business contacts.

20 percent of UWV think the President should be impeached and nearly 35 percent of UWV believe there isn’t enough coverage on the President’s Russia connections.

Taxes Lose

The IQM data analysis found that male and female Californians agree on a key entitlement issue. Both genders, regardless of party affiliation, oppose higher taxes to preserve the long-term solvency of the U.S. Social Security program.

Methodology

The IQM team of developers, data scientists, and political operatives apply proprietary algorithms to voter files provided to them from their customers and industry-leading political data partners. The resulting finding in help progressive campaigns craft more intelligent digital advertisements reaches more undecided voters and better track their journey to the booth. The IQM voter intelligence platform contains over 36,000 voter attributes to create an unlimited number of segments that can be viewed, analyzed, and optimized.
