Unifi Named a Leader in Machine Learning Data Catalogs by Independent Research Firm

Unifi Received the Highest Scores Possible for Profiling and Analytics, Stewardship and Governance, Security and Collaboration Criteria

SAN MATEO, Calif., June 21, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) --  Unifi Software, a leader in providing a seamlessly integrated suite of self-service data tools, today announced it was recognized as a Leader in “The Forrester Wave™: Machine Learning Data Catalogs, Q2 2018” report1 by Forrester Research, Inc. Unifi received the highest scores possible for the Profiling and Analytics, Stewardship and Governance, Security and Collaboration criteria, as well as the criteria for Search, Usage, Metadata and Policy Capture, Anomaly Management, Machine Learning Usage and Machine Learning Algorithms, Pipelining, Cataloging of Data Types, Delivery, Time to Value, and Overall Satisfaction with the Tool. Unifi is one of 12 vendors selected for inclusion in the report based on 29 evaluation criteria.

In its report, Forrester states: “Unifi brings insight where none existed before. Data users are immediately struck by the Unifi environment’s simplicity: a single search field, designed around the same concept as commercial search engines, so that user intent is center stage for immediate insights. Search is through natural language where users can not only find data they need but also ask questions of the data such as: ‘What was my 2018 revenue?’ or, ‘What was the revenue trend from the past three years?’ Most data preparation vendors see catalogs as a function; Unifi treats it as a core differentiator.

Customers can’t stop talking about the ease of deployment, the ability of nontechnical and executive stakeholders to understand and get value from the tool, and the ability to govern data more holistically, compared with other stewardship and data prep environments. While the solution is powerful and prominent investors back Unifi, the data science workbench is still small, and investment is still primarily going to product improvements. But that shouldn’t deter enterprises from putting Unifi on a shortlist because it shows how a consolidated offering for data prep, cataloging, and self-service can democratize data and speed time-to-insight.”

“We believe the recognition by Forrester of Unifi as a Leader in the Forrester Wave for Machine Learning Data Catalogs is a testament to the maturity of our catalog product and the number of users who have come to rely on it daily to find answers to their data questions,” said Rob Carlson, Chief Executive Officer and Co-founder, Unifi Software. “Across all 29 evaluation criteria, Unifi received 5s, the highest level, in 21 of the 29 criteria. That’s impressive. What is also really important to us is to hear that we received the highest possible score in overall satisfaction with the tool and time to value criteria.”

According to Forrester, “The MLDC market is growing because firms want to scale data to the masses through self-service. However, back-end data management technology can’t support tribal knowledge, provide a good user experience (UX) for data consumers, and scale across a highly federated data ecosystem. MLDCs solve this and scale elastically by leveraging their machine learning (ML) capabilities.”

“Unifi solved a critical data quality problem for us. We have campaign managers, account managers, business analysts all searching for a broad range of data as well as data science teams doing predictive modeling for our campaigns," said Sylvain Le Borgne, EVP Global Head of Technology, Havas Media Group. "What Havas needed to help extract more volume from data to its clients was a data catalog to find the right data for each solution inside very varied internal and external data sets and trust it to be valuable. The AI capabilities are proving critical to our growth and with the simplicity of natural language search we're now using Unifi worldwide."
