NEW YORK, July 16, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Deborah Barnes, Licensed Clinical Social Worker, has been selected to join the Industry Board at the American Health Council. She will be sharing her knowledge and expertise in Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Dialectic Behavioral Therapy, EMDR, PTSD, Anxiety, Depression, and Bereavement.
Ms. Barnes has been active in the healthcare industry for more than 40 years. She earned her Master of Social Work degree, with Healthcare Concentration, from the University of Houston in 1984. Ms. Barnes discovered what would be her life’s work after walking through one wrong door while a student at Syracuse University. That chance encounter put her on the path of her life’s work to make an impact in the lives of patients.
Ms. Barnes has been at a private practice for the last 13 years. Her day-to-day responsibilities include the diagnosis and treatment of adult patients with a specialization in former military personnel. Modalities include Specialized Trauma Therapy, EMDR, DBT, CBT, and Grief Counseling. Out of all her accomplishments, she is most proud to have served in Vietnam and to have retired from the American Red Cross. She is proud to have made and continue to make a difference in the lives of veterans.
Ms. Barnes holds a board certification from the American Board of Examiners in Clinical Social Work. Her long-term goals include continued professional growth in support of individuals facing change and traumatic events. She is actively involved with organizations supporting military families, the American Red Cross, and Give an Hour. In her free time, Ms. Barnes enjoys music, traveling, reading and needlework.
