Joplin, Missouri, July 31, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- TAMKO Building Products, Inc. has published its latest Community Stewardship Report reflecting its commitment to integrity and support for the communities in which it operates. The report sets forth TAMKO’s financial and volunteer investments.
“Charitable giving and supporting human dignity has been a decades-long priority for TAMKO,” said TAMKO’s President and CEO David Humphreys. “We aim to benefit the communities in which we operate in a way that reflects our vision, philosophy and values. As a result, our contributions focus especially on education, community organizations, healthcare, youth sports and veterans.”
In 2017, TAMKO and the Humphreys family, which owns and operates the company, provided more than $3.2 million in charitable donations and sponsorships. Among these, Debra and David Humphreys established the Humphreys Scholars Excellence Award with a $1 million gift to Missouri Southern State University in Joplin for academic scholarships for students majoring in math, science, technology and teaching. Also, TAMKO donated $200,000 to the American Red Cross to help aid long-term recovery efforts in areas affected by Hurricanes Harvey and Maria. Additionally, TAMKO donated building materials to a Homes for Heroes project in Colorado that benefited Sergeant Kristie Ennis, a Marine Corps veteran who was seriously injured while serving in Afghanistan in 2012.
TAMKO employees volunteered more than 20,000 hours of their own time in 2017 at events such as: The Red, White & Blue Banquet in Joplin, Missouri honoring more than 400 local firefighters, EMTs and law enforcement; Field of Honor in Frederick, Maryland which honors those who have died serving our country; and in the Walk to Defeat ALS (Lou Gehrig’s disease) in Green Cove Springs, Florida where TAMKO employees walked to honor their general manager who is battling ALS.
“As demonstrated by the Community Stewardship Report, TAMKO and the Humphreys family are dedicated to doing the right thing, and a large part of that includes helping our communities to flourish and prosper,” said Humphreys.
