Houston, Texas, Aug. 22, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- North American Spine, the leader in minimally invasive spine care, today announced a scholarship opportunity open to any currently enrolled student who wishes to pursue a career in medicine. The scholarship will award $2,500 to one winner for the submission of an essay or video explaining disc-related spine pain treatment to prospective patients.

“We envision a patient care system free of jargon,” said Chris Lloyd, CEO of NAS. “It only adds to patient confusion and anxiety. This scholarship contest will allow future medical professionals to practice that sensitivity for a non-professional audience.”
To further the company’s mission of patient awareness, the essay or video submitted must address non-pharmaceutical treatment to spine pain sufferers. Applicants must submit the following qualifications:
• A personal statement of course of study and intended career (max length 750 words)
• Name of school, area of study, and intended graduation date
• An essay (max 2000 words) or a video (max 2 minutes) submitted by December 1, 2018.
“Patients deserve to know the risks and rewards of the treatment options they’re considering,” said Lloyd. “This scholarship is as much about patient education as the education of future medical professionals.”
