POWER Engineers renews focus on asset management, changing energy market

Division leadership sees shift

Hailey, ID, Oct. 11, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Energy utilities facing a changing market have renewed allies in POWER Engineers, Inc., a global multidisciplinary engineering firm announcing upcoming management changes that will help clients meet today’s business challenges.

POWER Senior Vice President Holger Peller will assume the role of Executive Vice President of Power Delivery at the start of the new year. Bill Hansen, who has held that position for most of his 22 years at POWER, will transition to a new role that focuses on the company’s asset management consulting services.

Peller will be responsible for ensuring POWER’s 1,600-person nationwide power delivery service group meets the challenges posed by the changing business environment of electric utility owner-operators. Distributed energy resources, lifecycle engineering and market competition are all areas showing rapid transformation, and clients are searching for solutions.

“Electric utilities are simultaneously facing an increase in system complexity and a decrease in control,” Peller said. “Small power producers and distributed energy resources feeding into the grid make load planning unpredictable. At the same time, utilities still bear the responsibility of keeping the lights on for their customers.”

Peller joined POWER as a substations engineer immediately after graduating from Gonzaga University in 1992. He swiftly moved up the ranks to Substations Business Unit Director, Corporate Operations Manager and Power Delivery Senior Project Manager. Peller earned an MBA from Boise State University in 2016.

“Holger is one of the best in the business,” said Bret Moffett, POWER’s CEO. “His dedication to POWER has been exemplary, and his combination of technical expertise, operations knowledge and business acumen made him a natural choice for this position.”

With Peller assuming the Division Manager role, Hansen will focus on the integration of engineering services into POWER’s already-robust asset management consulting and software system implementation services. The company’s clients will enjoy a more complete suite of services for managing the entire lifecycle of their infrastructure assets.

“Our clients are looking to optimize the way they operate,” Hansen said. “Energy utilities can save millions of dollars through more efficient management of their existing electric infrastructure.”
