AAHC BOARD LEADERSHIP ANNOUNCED


Washington, DC, Oct. 15, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Sam Hawgood, MBBS, chancellor of the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF), is continuing his position as chair of the Board of Directors of the Association of Academic Health Centers (AAHC) for another year. Internationally renowned for his work in neonatology research, Dr. Hawgood also holds the position of Arthur and Toni Rembe Rock Distinguished Professor at UCSF.

Prior to his current position, Dr. Hawgood was dean of the UCSF School of Medicine and vice chancellor for medical affairs from 2009-2014, after assuming the role of interim dean in December of 2007. His distinguished career at UCSF includes serving as chair of the Department of Pediatrics and associate director of the Cardiovascular Research Institute.

Robert N. Golden, MD, dean of the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health and vice chancellor for medical affairs at the University of Wisconsin-Madison (UW-Madison), was elected to the position of chair-elect of the AAHC board at its annual meeting held October 11-12 in Chicago. Dr. Golden is the Robert Turell Professor in Medical Leadership at UW-Madison and is nationally known for his research on the psychobiology of mood disorders.

Newly elected to the board for three-year terms are: Deborah German, MD, vice president for medical affairs, dean, UCF College of Medicine, University of Central Florida; David Perlmutter, MD, executive vice chancellor and dean, School of Medicine, Washington University; Marsha Rappley, MD, vice president for health sciences, CEO, VCU Health System, Virginia Commonwealth University.
