Inmar Enhances Features to its LifeInCheck Drug Disposal Program to Help Combat the Opioid Epidemic

Winston-Salem, NC, Oct. 23, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Today Inmar announced that it has enhanced its LifeInCheck website with a feature to help consumers easily locate the more than 250 DEA compliant medication disposal receptacles across the U.S.  In conjunction with the Drug Enforcement Administration and National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day on Saturday, October 27, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., the website feature is designed to allow consumers to identify approved receptacles where they can safely dispose of unused or expired medications.

Inmar’s LifeInCheck Drug Disposal Program aims to assist consumers fighting the opioid crisis by removing medications from the home when they are no longer needed, decreasing the risk of opioid abuse in the home. Beyond National Drug Take-back Days held two times each year, the Inmar Drug Disposal Program allows consumers to remove unused drugs from their homes any day of the year when they visit a participating pharmacy location. 

Every day, 197 Americans die from a drug overdose and over 1,000 people are treated in emergency rooms for not using prescription opioids as directed. In addition, an estimated 54 million people in the U.S. over the age of 12 have used prescription drugs for nonmedical reasons in their lifetime.
