Supporting Speech, Image and Video, Wins Design Innovation of the Year and Best Use Of Advanced Technologies
WESTLAKE VILLAGE, Calif., Oct. 29, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Eta Compute Inc., a company dedicated to delivering machine learning to mobile and edge devices using its revolutionary new platform, today announced it received two significant industry awards at Arm TechCon last week, Best Use Of Advanced Technologies and Design Innovation Of The Year.
The recently announced TENSAI® AI platform based on the Arm® Cortex®-M3 processor received the Arm TechCon Best Use Of Advanced Technologies award for delivering an image classification neural network (CNN) consuming only 0.4mJ per image. A previous published design running the same CNN on a different processor consumed 13mJ per image, a 30X increase in energy consumption.
“As the Internet of Things expands and we move towards our vision of a trillion connected devices, more and more intelligence will move to the edge,” said Thomas Ensergueix, senior director, Embedded and Automotive Line of Business, Arm. “Eta Compute’s platform enables machine learning at the edge for applications with extremely constrained power budgets, using one of the most popular Cortex-M processors to date, having shipped in billions of devices.”
“These two Arm TechCon awards validate that Eta Compute’s edge machine learning platform performs significantly better than other proposed solutions,” said Lip-Bu Tan, Chairman of Walden International.
The company also received the Arm TechCon Design Innovation Of The Year award for its third-generation MCU that includes patented delay insensitive asynchronous logic (DIAL®), which enables dynamic voltage frequency scaling and near threshold voltage operation. The MCU uses an Arm Cortex-M3 processor and operates below 1MHz to over 100MHz with power consumption as low as 4.5uA/MHz.
The Arm TechCon Innovation Awards program celebrates leading-edge Arm-based technologies that have spawned new applications and sparked innovation in systems design. The 2018 awards represented achievements in the area of overall design innovation, contribution to IoT security, best use of advanced technologies, and outstanding design teams.
