TORONTO, Nov. 07, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- From improving healthcare patient experiences to building a high-performance and reliable 3D vision system for diverse manufacturing applications, this year’s six winners of the 2018 ITAC Ingenious Awards and the two CanadianCIO of the Year Award recipients exemplify the true meaning of technology trailblazers, according to national industry association, the Information Technology Association of Canada (ITAC).
The ITAC Ingenious Awards program was launched in 2011 to recognize excellence and innovation in the use of information and communications technology (ICT) by organizations in all walks of Canadian life to solve problems, improve performance, introduce new services and grow businesses. The CanadianCIO of the Year Award, in both the public and private sectors, recognizes overall excellence among Canada’s community of CIOs.
Award recipients were honoured at an annual awards gala in Toronto on November 6.
The 2018 ITAC Ingenious Award winners are:
- Large Private Sector: GoldCorp Inc., for their Goldcorp Cognitive Journey program
- Large Public Sector: Halton Healthcare for their Smart Hospitals Enabling Exemplary Patient Experiences initiative
- Medium Private Sector: ComplyWorks for their Realtime Multilingual Language Detection and Translation Add-on to Customer Support Application
- Small Private Sector: Bluewrist for their Robotics and 3D Machine Vision – A Smarter Way to do QA Testing program
- SME Public/Not-for-Profit: Montréal West Island Health and Social Services Centre for their Implementing the Resident Assessment Instrument with Lean Methodologies initiative
- Ingenious Spark: Chatter Research; recognizing a successful new technology product or service
The 2018 CanadianCIO of the Year Award winners are:
- Public Sector: Tara Mulrooney, Chief Technology Officer, Alberta Energy Regulator
- Private Sector: Mark Saunders, Chief Information Officer, Sun Life Financial
