VANCOUVER, Wash., Dec. 05, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- DiscoverOrg, the leading marketing and sales intelligence provider, has raised $140,500 in cash donations and thousands of pounds of supplies for the Family & Community Resource Center (FCRC) Program, which helps remove barriers and offers support to students and families in Evergreen Public Schools.
This donation is the largest charitable donation in the FCRC Program’s history. Previously, in 2017, DiscoverOrg raised $79,000, and in 2016, the company raised $40,000.
Evergreen Public Schools enrolls nearly 26,000 students in the Vancouver, Washington area. Over 12,000 students are enrolled in the Free/Reduced Meal Program, and over 1,000 students are considered to “lack a fixed, regular, and adequate nighttime residence” according to the federal McKinney-Vento law. This level of need in the school community prompted the formation of the FCRC Program six years ago, and quickly expanded to include 14 locations over the following three years.
DiscoverOrg’s donation includes a matching cash donation from DiscoverOrg CEO Henry Schuck. In addition, DiscoverOrg employees gathered 384 winter coats, 49,891 diapers, 119 pairs of shoes, and large amounts of laundry detergent, toothbrushes, and other essentials.
The fund drive includes donations from many local businesses and sports teams, including the Portland Trail Blazers, Portland Winterhawks, and the Seattle Seahawks. Nike, Hilton Hotels, Burgerville, Olive Garden, Outback Steakhouse, Sweet Tomatoes, Ross Stores, Skamania Lodge, Nom Nom, Mighty Bowl, Heathen Brewing, and many other local businesses also generously participated in the fund drive.
“The Family and Community Resource Center Program is grateful for the continued support and partnership with DiscoverOrg,” said Melanie Green, Administrator of the Family and Community Resource Center Program in Evergreen Public Schools. “For the past two years, the items and funds donated go directly to support our district’s most vulnerable families, ensure the basic needs of our students are met, and give them opportunity to come to school, ready to learn. This year’s donation provides resources so we can support even more of our students. DiscoverOrg’s example of leading the way and engaging other businesses and organizations by giving back continues to make a transformational impact on the lives of so many in our community. Evergreen Public Schools is so appreciative for the generosity of Henry and Jessica Schuck and DiscoverOrg.”
“For one month a year, as a company and a community, we come together because we want to do something for those who have less than us,” said Henry Schuck. “When I was graduating law school, our dean reminded us that success came down to two things: do well and do good. There’s no question that over the last 11 years we’ve done well. But every year, this company comes together to do good as well. I’m so proud of our team and community today.”
