Statement by Toronto Community Housing

Toronto, ON, Dec. 17, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) --

Toronto Community Housing Corporation engaged an external firm to conduct an independent, third-party review into the procurement of a contract with Orchango, a management consultant agency. The contract was intended to support the implementation of the reorganization of Toronto Community Housing.

While that review is ongoing, the TCHC Board of Directors has issued the following statement:

“The Toronto Community Housing Corporation (TCHC) Board of Directors has learned the process to award the RFP to Orchango was flawed and did not follow existing TCHC regulations. We hold ourselves to higher standards and, as a result, the Board has directed TCHC to terminate the contract with Orchango effective immediately.

“As the review into this matter is ongoing, current CEO Kathy Milsom and the employee who oversaw this RFP process have been placed on administrative leave. This is not disciplinary action, but part of a prudent effort to ensure the independence and integrity of the ongoing review.

“To maintain stability and continuity for our employees and tenants, Vice President Sheila Penny will be acting President and Chief Executive Officer, effective immediately. Her immediate focus will be ensuring the momentum that has begun at the corporation to improve the services we provide to our tenants continues.

“We remain committed to transparency regarding this process and will keep our employees, tenants and the public updated on a resolution to this matter.

“As we strive to modernize our organization, the health and well-being of tenants will continue to be our first priority.”
