SAN FRANCISCO, Jan. 15, 2019 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- King & Spalding announced today that Michael Shepard has joined the firm as a partner on the Special Matters and Government Investigations team in San Francisco and Silicon Valley.
Shepard’s practice focuses on white collar criminal defense, related civil litigation and internal corporate investigations. His internal investigations work emphasizes Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, financial reporting, data privacy and other issues. Shepard joins from Hogan Lovells, where he served as managing partner of its San Francisco and Silicon Valley offices. Prior to joining private practice, he served as Chief of Public Integrity at the U.S. Department of Justice and as a federal prosecutor and Interim United States Attorney in Chicago.
“Mike is a prominent white-collar lawyer, and his reputation and experience as a first chair trial lawyer is exactly what our team was seeking on the West Coast,” said Wick Sollers, head of King & Spalding’s Government Matters practice group, of which the Special Matters team is a part. “He is a leader and will add significant depth to our Special Matters capabilities in California and across our offices.”
Shepard is a member of the American College of Trial Lawyers and was recently appointed one of its Regents nationwide. Chambers described him as a “deeply experienced white-collar lawyer with an immense standing in the field.”
“Growth of our Special Matters capabilities on the West Coast is a key strategy for the firm, and we’re pleased that Mike is helping us achieve that,” said Fritz Zimmer, managing partner of the San Francisco office. “Mike is a strong practitioner and will hit the ground running to assist corporate clients with their thorniest issues.”
Shepard received his J.D. from Stanford University and his undergraduate degree from Princeton University.
“King & Spalding’s collegial culture and its top-notch Special Matters team made it the right place to take my practice,” Shepard said. “I look forward to collaborating with my new colleagues and to putting my expertise to work for clients.”
